Ready to start your Instagram page and take it from zero to hero?

Great!

This post contains 5 proven methods that will help you to grow your Instagram account starting today.

Let’s jump right in!

Optimize your Profile and Bio for your Target Audience

Whenever potential followers visit your page, they should know what to expect from the page by just looking at your Instagram bio.

You can do this in 1 to 4 sentences or bullet points. Bullet points with emojis are usually better to make the account bio a lot cleaner.

If you are running a theme page, you want to make sure your profile photo is related to your niche.

If it’s a personal Instagram account then a clear photo of yourself will work.

Once you have your Instagram bio filled out and your profile picture, you want to start making a few posts.

Ideally, you want to add 6 to 12 quality posts to your page.

That way, whenever someone visits your profile, they can have a feel of the type of content they expect to see in their feed from your account.

This also fills out your Instagram Account initial page, when someone first sees it.

So before moving on, make sure you have your profile and bio set up correctly.

Once these are correctly set up…

You are ready to grow your Instagram account!

Find Accounts related to your Niche

You want to find other Instagram accounts that are within the same niche as your account.

For example, this is an account that I would target since the audience on this page is interested in Entrepreneurship related content.

Then you want to follow the users that are engaging with the content on that account…

… since the content on that account would be similar to the content you are posting on your account.

This method is usually known as the follow-for-follow method, which still works well to this day if done correctly.

The correct way to do this is to find one of the most recent posts on the account you are targeting.

Then you want to follow the users that liked and commented on the post.

Since your account is in the same niche as that account, you will most likely have similar content…

… that the users you have followed are interested in.

So you will most likely receive a follow back from the users that you have followed.

The reason you want to do it this way is so you are targeting active users.

What most people do, is click on the followers of an account and follow those users.

This is not recommended because not all followers of an account you are targeting are usually active.

Upload Quality Photos to your Page

Content is King!

Why? No matter what strategy you try to use to grow your account…

if your content is not good, then your account will just not grow.

When creating a new post, you want to replicate what is already working by finding what’s called “BPP”.

What is “BPP” you may ask?

In Instagram Marketing “BPP” is referred to as Best Performing Post.

So you want to find a good hashtag in your niche and search that hashtag to find photos within that niche.

You then want to identify the top photos that have the most engagement and are performing well…

… and try to recreate those.

A free software you can use to create your own post is Canva.

If you cannot recreate a post, you can choose to repost it. Just remember to give credit to the original creator, if you choose to repost their content.

The more quality post you have…

The faster you will grow your Instagram account.

Use Hashtags to Grow your Instagram

For each of my posts, I always make sure to use hashtags.

Not just any hashtags, but good hashtags…

Good hashtags increases reach!

For example, here is my reach from my hashtags for a post on one of my Instagram accounts.

As you can see, the hashtags I used allowed me to reach 2,888 more people.

But even though hashtags are very important to grow your Instagram.

You will need to find the best hashtags for your niche.

How do you find the best hashtags you may be wondering?

Here is how:

  1. Find the pages in your niche.
  2. Check their post.
  3. Find their hashtags.
  4. Choose the ones that are best related to your niche.

Make sure the hashtags are not too popular but not too uncommon.

You want to find that sweet spot.

The sweet spot is usually between 50,000 and 300,000 photos per hashtag.

The goal is to get the photo to the top 9 posts to increase visibility.

If there are too many images for that hashtag…

It is impossible to achieve this if your account isn’t already popular.

Pro Tip: Whenever you put together the hashtags you plan on using, create a small paragraph and add the hashtags inside that paragraph. Then post this paragraph with the hashtags in your comment section and not in your post caption.

Here is an example of how I recently started to use my hashtags.

On the left is before using the pro tip and on the right is after.

Post Consistently on your Account

You have to be consistent!

Consistency is key when growing your Instagram account.

When I started out, I was posting photos 6 to 9 times per day.

After I got to 1000+ followers and had a good amount of content built up.

I reduced that to 3 to 5 posts per day…

So that’s what I recommend.

Here is an example of one of my Instagram account stats that I grew from 0 to over 17,000+ followers.

This was done using all the strategies I mentioned previously.

I went on to flip this Instagram account for a good price and have started multiple other pages since.
